Digital mapping and 3D reconstruction of the historic 19th-century National Bank of Greece building in Kyparissia. The project focuses on utilizing photogrammetry as a precision tool for digitizing, documenting, and preserving architectural heritage.
Data Capture | Aerial & High-Detail Scanning
To comprehensively map the outer shell, interior spaces, and floor plans, a DJI Mavic Air 2 drone was deployed, collecting over 3,200 photographs. Simultaneously, intricate window and opening details were captured using DSLR equipment (Canon EOS R & Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 lens), taking approximately 500 shots per opening to ensure maximum resolution.
Workflow | Advanced 3D Reconstruction
Using Capturing Reality software, thousands of shots were processed through point-matching algorithms and 3D coordinate calculations. This workflow converted 2D visual data into a fully measurable, digital 3D model.
Architectural Documentation & Restoration
This method offers a non-invasive solution for surveying historic or hard-to-access structures. The resulting 3D model serves as an indispensable tool for assessing structural integrity, reducing maintenance costs, and planning future architectural restoration interventions.
